Call: 01206 382388 or 07870 816480

There are many myths and misconceptions surrounding hypnosis.  Therefore it is natural for people to be apprehensive.

For most people the only experience they have of hypnosis is seeing hypnotists on stage or on TV.  Hypnosis is in fact a natural state and something you will have experienced on countless occasions, it is not you can be forced or coerced into. The hypnotic state is a deep relaxation and is something we pass through at least twice a day, on our way in and out of sleep. It is best described as a state of restful wakefulness. In fact there are many times we are hypnotised in our ordinary lives, for example when reading a good book or watching TV.  How many times have you been engrossed in a film to the point of blocking everything out, feeling sad at the sad parts or jumping when something sudden happens.  Alternatively have you ever driven somewhere and realised you don’t remember the journey.

Hypnotherapy relies on this focusing of the mind to provide access to the subconscious, the part of the mind that controls our feelings, actions and emotions.  This access allows us to treat problems at their point of origin, which ensures a permanent effective treatment, in many cases in a very short space of time.  One of the biggest fears people speak about when looking for a hypnotherapist  in Colchester is that they will feel out of control or not remember. In fact throughout a hypnotherapy session you will remain fully aware and in complete control.
